THEY STAND BY THEIR WORD!I worked with Aaron to buy a used truck. We ran into some financing issues but he helped me work through it. During the entire process he was professional, personable and just fun to be around. I’m truly grateful to him and will definitely consider purchasing my next used vehicle through Down East Auto.Update 5 days later: they stand by their word. I felt like I That’s probably the best way I can describe the situation that’s happened with the truck I brought. This is going to be a long post but I think it will demonstrate the honesty with which this dealership operates.So I bought a hybrid truck without doing enough research on it; I thought it was a regular hybrid truck. Turns out the truck I brought was a limited edition R&D vehicle for a company that modifies chassis into PHEV fleet vehicles for big companies. Very little information about these trucks exists online and the warning light we though was a tire pressure sensor fault light was a hybrid system warning light. 2 days after I bought it I charged it and the hybrid battery wouldn’t send a charge to any of the high voltage systems the next day. After calling the dealer I was quickly directed to the owner Eric. I called the company and turns out it was likely a cooling system fault due to low fluid level in a reservoir however the truck is back with the dealer so I never got the final diagnosis. While working on figuring out the issue I talked through options with Eric. I still needed a truck but after talking with the manufacturer I thought maybe I wasn’t the right guy for THIS truck. After some pleasant conversation with Eric (I say that without sarcasm, he was just a genuine and personable guy), he agreed to let me trade this truck for another one of similar value on the lot. I got the truck towed to the dealerships mechanic and drove back to the lot. I again worked with Aaron on options for another truck. He worked hard to find good options for me and found me a truck that fit my needs and budget, again being personable and professional throughout the whole process. Such a good group of guys, I really wish I lived the same city so I could just hang out with them. Financing the second time around was a bit harder, had to call the bank to reserve the old loan for the other truck before financing the second one. Im waiting on the reversal of the first loan to complete at this time but otherwise everything else is finished up. I want to stress that I bought the first truck, as is without a warranty; they could have told me to keep the lemon truck but they didn’t!Bottom line: they are 90 min away from where I live but they have earned all my used vehicle business from now on!

Contemplated on rather to wait to purchase a used car or go out of my way 3 1/2 hours from Charlotte NC to Wilson NC to get a car from Down East Auto. I was told about the brakes, which are good but slotted rotors on a General Motor Caddy and not Brembo aint a good match. I was told about the shaking when braking but only when you hit brakes harder from high speeds. Not a big problem. I drive a truck so im used to fanning my brakes and it doesn’t shake when I do this from high speeds. I was told the car was gassed up and it wasn’t. Had less than 5 gallons in it. Really didnt notice during test drive. Don’t know if they have fuel pumps on property if so they would have done it if I had asked Im sure. The detailing could have been better. Customer Service was good. My preparedness for a purchase of new used car could have been better itself. The car rides good. Very clean on outside. Little worn in inside but thats not on Down East Auto. I told my dad I was happy with my purchase but its only one day. So far so good. Thanks Austin!

Fantastic experience. Looked online for a truck for my 17 year son. So many vehicles to choose from. We happened to be in the area (we live an hour away) so I stopped by (female by myself). My son and I recently purchased a 2004 Toyota 4Runner 4×4 from Down East Auto. I looked for over six months for a nice 4Runner without a million miles on it, that had a clean Carfax, and that wasn’t rusted to pieces. This is my son’s first car, and he is paying for half of it, so the price had to be within a tight budget. One day on Facebook Marketplace I saw what seemed like a good fit at Down East Auto. I immediately called and spoke with Austin. He took the time to answer all my questions, took additional photos, and even facetimed me to look at the vehicle. I told him I was leaving my house and it would take two hours to get there, and would he please hold it for me. When I got there the vehicle was exactly as he described, and I agreed to buy it. It drove perfectly, with one exception – the 4×4 was not working properly. No problem he said, we advertised it as a 4×4… we will have that fixed! That is exactly what they did! Unfortunately the problem ended up being more costly and complicated than they expected – to the point where I’m pretty sure they lost money. They paid for it anyway. Also, they handled everything with a great attitude, and the only thing they cared about was my complete and total satisfaction. While we were waiting for parts, Austin hooked me up with their go-to paint guy who gave the car a great once-over and took care of some blemishes for a great price. I can’t say enough about good about Down East Auto, and especially Austin. Thank you guys, and I hope I am able to buy another vehicle from you in the future!

A very relaxed environment with good people!( there was one small problem with Jeep I bought it and that was tire pressure sensors but that is an easy fix)Update: So good news/bad news update. After having the Jeep for just week. The cooling sensor went out and caused the Jeep to almost overheat. The overheating lead to a misfire and needed to replace a few things. It cost me $645 to fix. I called them to let them know what happened( I did buy this car as is but didn t know what to do since I had only had it a week) and with all the issues happening on a holiday weekend, it was a stressful time. After talking to Kristi on the phone, the owner offered to cover half of what I had to pay!( I was expecting them not to pay at all) This is not the fault of DEA, things happen with a used car.

Went and looked at a couple vehicles with and for my husband at D.E.A. Austin helped us out when we told him what we were looking for. We saw a 2006 Armada with low miles. We test drove it and liked it and put the deposit down. The next day we came back and bought the truck. Since having it home we noticed a couple things we were not informed of upon purchase. One of the tires/rims are not the same size as the other 3 so we have to get that fixed, it wasn’t washed so we didn’t see all of it’s blemishes, and the back glass window hatch did not open. My husband fixed the back window hatch and the blemishes aren’t a super big deal, but the tire issue is. We have not contacted them yet as this vehicle was a buy as is, but we will be. Overall we were happy with our experience at D.E.A. and would do business with them again. They do need to disclose important info about vehicles and washing them before purchase would also be nice.

Amazing place they wanted to make sure you are in a good car. The Dealer is an amazing person that made sure i understood everything and helped me trade in my old car for the new one i got. Start this off by saying I was looking all over NC for a good used truck at a fair price. I put just under 500 miles on my old Jeep before I made the trip to DEA. Soon as I pulled in Austin greeted me, showed my around, and got an idea of what I was looking for. They had 3 trucks in stock that had my interest and we narrowed down to the one we made a deal on. Not only did they give me a fair price they also made sure that I was completely satisfied before I drove off the lot in my pickup. If you are in the market give these guys a chance. They may not have what you need but they will make sure you are happy when you leave.

After going to three different car dealerships and being told I needed a cosigner, I pretty much had given up on buying a car. that I did not purchase the T-Bird. The four door Thunderbirds are hard to find and usually cost 10k to 15k.
